The Fine Diner

Cross-posted from Calgary is Awesome.

Breakfast Menu @ Fine Diner
The Fine Diner in Inglewood has only been open a few short months, but the small, cozy restaurant (which formerly housed Capo) already has a legion of fans. When perennial brunchmate Tiffany and I checked out the place several weeks ago, there was a sizeable lineup in front of us.

The Fine Diner's small space is matched by a small menu, which means everything - from the pancakes to French toast to the eggs bennies - is done very well, locally sourced and is extra-decadent. I met Rob, one of the owners at the Rouge & White Party, who mentioned his latest project was to see if he could use duck fat in all his fryers!

I had heard good things about the Duck Benny ($14) so I decided to give that a try.

Thick slices of lightly seared duck breast adorned the poached eggs and toasted English muffin, with a generous side of fruit and hash browns. The duck was moist and flavourful, pairing surprisingly well with the lightly poached eggs. The orange and grapefruit slices were perfect for adding some lightness to the dish.

Tiffany went for the Stuffed French Toast ($12), which has a different filling every day! On that day it was stuffed with peanut butter, banana and bacon.

We both loved the sweet-and-savoury combo (I also liked the torched bananas on the side) of the filling, and the French toast itself was lightly toasted on the outside and buttery and moist in the middle. Ultimately though, it was a little too rich, and Tiffany was unable to finish it.

All in all, The Fine Diner certainly lives up to its name while the decor is refined and modern, the servers still call you "Dear" and the dishes are definitely refined, indulgent versions of their greasy spoon counterparts. If you're looking to try something new for brunch this long weekend, The Fine Diner is certainly worth the wait!

Wow Vincci, that food looks amazing, especially the duck with the neat little poached eggs.

We're just not that creative about brunch yet over the in the UK - if you could send some brunch magic dust our way that would be great.
